Our club is part of the Wyoming State Snowmobile Association (WYSSA). For every membership we receive, we donate to Wyoming State Snowmobile Association. WSSA advocates on a state and federal level to keep our ORV winter and summer trails and public lands accessible. Your membership goes a long way to keep our beautiful state open for our future children.  Thank you for your support

Our Base Camp is located in Star Valley, Wyoming, which is 50 minutes from Jackson Hole WY Airport, 3 hours from Salt Lake City Utah airport, and 1.5 hours from Idaho Falls Idaho Airport.  Most of our winter and summer events occur in the Bridger Teton National Forest, WY & Caribou National Forest, ID at McCoy Trail Head. 


Our Montana basecamp is located in Bozeman, MT only a few minutes from Yellowstone, Big Sky, Lolo Pass, Helena/Lincoln, Kings Hill, Pipestone, and Boulder, Montana.

MOUNTAIN BACKCOUNTRY CHECKLIST


We hope this checklist helps our new backcountry riders and a reminder to all our seasoned riders to reset and repack.

PRIOR TO HEADING INTO BACKCOUNTRY 

  • Check Avy and weather report Never ride alone 
  • Always bring your safety equipment, even on short rides 
  • Group check... all beacons and radios are working properly 
  • Tell someone where you are going and expected return time
  • Always wear your tether (install one if your sled doesn’t have one)
  • Use hand signals on the trail 
  • Wait at all turns for all party members 
  • Avoid known Avy areas when possible 
  • Cross Avy terrain one at a time 
  • Don't park at the bottom of a potential avalanche hill
  • One at a time when playing on a hill 
  • Don't help a stuck sled in Avy terrain 
  • If someone is missing... go back to last known area 
  • If you are lost...stay in one place


WHAT TO WEAR IN YOUR PACK

  • Shovel (not plastic)
  • Probe
  • Fire starter
  • Communication Radio
  • Flashlight (Headlamp)
  • Compass
  • Paracord
  • Tape (Small bits: Gorilla & Electric. Not the entire roll.)
  • GPS: SPOT or GARMIN or Map
  • Extra Batteries
  • Tissues
  • Hand and toe warmers
  • Emergency blanket
  • Saw
  • Signal flare (suck and seal)
  • Emergency food lightweight (IE snacks, Teas, Hot Cocoa, Soups, electrolytes packets , drink mixes)
  • Metal container (bottle, cup, muffpot) to melt snow for water
  • Dry socks, beanie, gloves, packable down jacket.

Gear is expensive. Here are our recommendations.

 Wyoming:  There are a few locations in Star Valley (Alpine, Thayne  & Afton)  to purchase snowmobile permits You can also buy permits online prior to your trip.  


Idaho :  Permits can only be ordered online.  You can buy permits prior to your trip.  If permits do not arrive before you leave, print it or do a scrren grab receipt to your phone.


Montana: Permits can be purchased at dealership. You can buy permits prior to your trip.  


If you are renting, you do not need to get a snowmobile permit.



We will be riding between 8000 -10,000ft. If you are riding your own sled, contact your local dealer to make sure your clutching is set for our elevation.  We can not express having proper clutching. If you are not sure, renting a snowmobiling is a better option. Do not let , a wonderful experience on the mountain come to an end before it even begins. Rev It Up Girls are not responsible incorrect mountain clutching, oil or fuel.

We host a FREE avalanche awareness and survival once a year in December   along with 801 Mountain Riders. We teach avalanche terrain awareness, mountain medical, how to build fires & shelters, tips on wearing and using your gear correctly, practice single and multi burial beacon searches, digging, probing, communicating, teamwork, leadership and more. 


Furthermore, we do recommend getting certificated by a professional, if you intend to become an avid backcountry sledder or snow-biker. 


Mike Duffy at www.avalanche1.com  has both avalanche awareness and /or motorized avalanche course in MT, ID, WY, CO, MN, MI, WI,  IL, ND, SD,  IA, OH, and more...
